One night I was laying in bed and I had the radio on.
I heard some guy say, "I don't know where I've been for years".
I thought, "That's a great phrase. I hope I remember it tomorrow morning".
I knew I wouldn't.
So I got up and wrote it down.
And here is the song that came from it.
As usual, written, performed, recorded and produced by me.
I don’t know
Where I’ve been for years
All this time
I’ve been out of gear
Down this line I’ve been out of my mind
I don’t know
Where I’ve been for years
I don’t know
Where I’ve been for years
All dried up
Don’t have no more tears
All this time I’ve been out of my mind
I don’t know
Where I’ve been for years
I don’t know
Where I’ve been for years
I’ve been told
To have no fear
I’m feeling fine but I’m out of my mind
I don’t know
Where I’ve been for years
Jay Berentsen - my partner in crime at the Coffee House Party for the past few years - decided to produce a video for the next Virtual Coffee House party.
He took a recording of a song he wrote a few years ago called Pain and made the video.
Originally, I had produced the song at my studio Canine Studio.
Jay played bass, keyboard and vocals
I played guitar and added some sound effects to the recording.
Jay asked me to mime my performace of the solo in the song.
I thought, "I have to figure out how the hell I played that solo????"
So, I gave it the old college try. I think it shows...
Anyway, here is the video. I think Jay did a good job with it.
A lot of you know I periodically perform at the Bea Marie Tharp Coffee House.
Well, since the COVID-19 thingy, the Coffee House events have been cancelled.
This Halloween night Bea Marie Tharp and company are having a Virtual Coffee House.
And people are encouraged to submit a video of themselves performing a song - preferably in a Halloween costume.
This is my contribution.
Since I'm allowed to submit two songs, I submitted a second one.
Here it is.
I’m a cool dog, so I’m called Ice
Bouncy, joyous, full of spice
Let’s run around the house
We’ll play a while today
A happy dog, full of fun
Lots of laughter in the sun
A pool! Oh yeah, c’mon Mom!
We’ll play a while today
Let’s go for a run
Though you’re tired and done
But I’ve been guarding the house
We’ll play a while today
Oh, look a ball, let’s play catch
I’ve got it, I have no match
One more time, then off to home
We’ll play a while today
A hike you say, just the thing
Lots of snacks, and water bring
To cool us when we’re tired and hot
We’ll play a while today
My bed is calling, I easy tire
My muscles ache, feel like fire
Getting older no long a puppy
We’ll rest a while today
Feeling weary, but don’t be sad
You gave me the best a dog ever had
The Rainbow Bridge they say is calling
I’ll sleep a while today
